    Default BPS Slab Shooter

Anybody tried one? My neighbor bought one for trout fishing and seems to be happy with it, it looks like a nice setup. I just wish they had other lengths besides 5'6. I wonder if it was meant to be a doock shooting rod? Dont most people use a shorter rod for shooting docks?

you can use a 5'6" rod for dock shootin, some do from what I've read. I've got some 4'6" and 5' ers that I use for DS. some of the more experienced DS's use 6' and longer depending on the situation. If a 6' is flexible enough and the right action, they use it. A good (IMO) DS rod is the Shakespear 4'6" UL from walmart.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I use two 6 foot Lamiglass rods that i built. The tip is fast and really shoots a jig, six pound fireline and a short flourocarbon leader.I feel the longer length gives me the option of staying a little further away on low docks..............Granite

I use what's in my hand at the time. If I'm just shooting I use either a 5' light action Shakespeare or a 6'6" medium action lightning rod from Berkley. I look more to the action of the rod than the length. A rod that has a bunch of bend at the tip, or a soft parabolic rod that starts to bend in front of the handle aren't as suitable in my opinion. The rods I use aren't powerhouses but generate a good shot.
