Angry Yamaha VMax 200 crapped out yesterday

While trolling yesterday, we would crank up and head back up so we could come down with the wind. Last time we cranked, the engine idled, gave it a bit of gas and it quit. Did this 3 times until finally it wouldnt hit a lick at all.

One tank was 1/2 full and the other WAS 1/8th full. I thought I was using the 1/2 tank sinse I had the switch on the "STBD" tank. I looked at the fuel in the tanks, and the port tank which had about an 1/8 in it was empty. SO now I was thinking the tank switch wasnt working and was stuck on the port tank.

There is a mechanical fuel valve between the tanks that was on port tank. I switched it to the STBD side, still wouldnt start. I tryed the valve in the "DUEL" position also and still wouldnt start.

So now I am thinking there is another problem other than the fuel tanks.
Any comments and suggestions appreciated. ANything I can check before she goes to the shop Tuesday?

Do a compression check first, then check and make sure you have "spark". Next step would be to check and make sure your fuel filter isnt clogged and the fuel pump diaphram is OK.

Wait a second here----is your kill switch in the right position--??????

Is there a chance the tank which had the 1/8 fuel had water?

Default Stupid is as Stupid does!

You guys ever feel so stupid you get imbarrassed?:o

Its running now. For some reason, I thought the fuel level switch on the console was to switch between tanks. Well upon closer inspection, seems this switch just lets you see the fuel level in each tank. The manual valve back at the tanks is the only one that actually changes tanks.

I switched the valve, pumped the bulb and wa laa!
Sorry to bother yuns. Im gonna go crawl in a corner now!
