spinning reel repair question

i have a shimano spinning reel and a quantum pti... the last couple week's they both did the same thing. it doesnt matter if i have it on anti reverse or not it will reel backward's if i'm not holding the handle when i set the hook. cant remember what part that i need to replace??? it's not a spring is it? any help would be much appreciated. don't really wanna take it to get repaired if it's an easy fix! thank's

What model of Shimano? Some of the new ones, Spirex is one, that require special tool.s to take them apart

The anti-reverse lock is broken, or has jumped the track. (old style reels)

Jigflinger is correct ... year & model of each reel would be helpful.

If you can get it apart you can spray some brakleen in it and remove the old grease and regrease it with fresh. On a few of mine the old grease got hard and prevented the anti reverse dog from engaging. Shot in the dark but you might get lucky.

i'm not for sure what year the shimano is...it's a shimano stradic 2000FG and the other is a quantum E10 energy pti.. i'm guessing there around 10 year's old???? shimano i think i've had a little longer... cant find my receipt's
