Personnally I believe crappie should be a gamefish not for commercial exploitation in MD. If allowed to be commercially exploited we should at least have some management of how many can be taken. Thanks for the picture post Capt. Mike.

Where is that? DC waterfront? Some Pan Rock sounds nice but I've never seen crappie for sale like that ... not too sure I like seeing that ...

I see theres a white crappie in there I wonder where they came from. Do you ever get white crappie in the tidal potomac? I have never got one in tidal water or any on the eastern shore

Yes very common around DC to see white crappie. I would bet a cast netter got those right behind the fish boats.

    Pretty good money.

You think those cast netters are licensed commercial fishermen or just guys making a side hustle ?

DC has no commercial fishing allowed.

No idea on how they arrived there. But it seems to me that if they sell for 3.45 a pound that someone might get wise and capitalize in tidal water of the MD DNR areas. PRFC has a limit in place for all fisherman. MD does not.

They have a group of land fisherman that fish at night who fish from Harbor Patrol to Warf and sell them to Captain Mikes. They have tournaments there in the fall.....
