    Default Propeller Questions

I have a 90 hp Mercury that currently has an Aluminum prop. I can't run the motor at Wide Open Throttle due to the fact that the RPM's go above the manufactures recommendation so I have always just backed it down and cruised along. I am wanting to buy a Stainless Steel prop for this boat and was wondering what pitch prop I should buy. Right now it has a 21 pitch on it and like I said, I am unable to run WOT. Should I go up to a 22 pitch prop on the stainless or will there be a difference in the prop materials that will effect RPM's? Just curious if anyone has some experience with this sort of thing. For the record this is for a 18.5 foot aluminum boat, light boat but I would like to see what she will do with the right prop on it! Thanks in advance for your help.

You will have to change the pitch to aquire the proper RPM's. The material will not make significant difference there....maybe "hole" speed improvement.
