Until i began follhowing the current addiction, namely crappie, I used a 1/16 beetle spin with a curl tail, a 1/8 bare head with a 2 or 3 inch white curl tail, and #5 and #7 rapala minnows in floating and sinking models. 6'6" rod with a 2000 series spinning reel with 2 spools, 1 with 4lb and one with 6lb line. The beetle spin is very weedless and the generic spiner blades are at Wally for a buck a pair in 4 different sizes, and most any jig can be slid onto these to offer a different presentation that will go thru most cover and come out the other side. Pitching jigs is now a favorite of mine, both curl and str8 tails. Light tackle is such a blast with whatever hits, just realize that breakoffs are fairly common til you get the hang of controlling the bigger fish. A little more than one, but it will all fit in a very small bag.
