    Default another trolling rod question

Spider rigging in say 8-10 feet of water and DEEPER...what LENGTH of rods do you consider essential? I know a lot of guys like the 14+ for shallow water, but what do you consider must haves if not fishing less than 8ft deep?

I use 14s all year. Longer rods give you a much wider spread.

Got 5- 10' Pro Anglers....looking to expand. Not really brand shopping, just length shopping for now.

Cant decide if for now I want to add 2 longer, quality brand rods, or just keep the pro anglers for night stalking and grab an arm full of HT's or Pinnacles in the longer rods.

14ft for me all year, right feel and balance for tightlining.

Feelay, I have two 16' , two 14' , ten 12' and two 8' PST's . Could I set up with two 16' out front then two 14' and then use four 12' for the rest for a total of 8 rods? Is this a good set up or should I just stay with 8/ 12' s?

I prefer all rods the same length for spider rigging.

What you have is a trolling setup. I DO NOT consider trolling and spiderrigging the same things as some on here often confuse the two. When trolling you need the diff size rods straight out the side for line seperation and water coverage. When spideriggin keep it simple and use all the same lenght rod. I have 14's for spiderriggin and when I troll I have 2 18's, 2 16's, 2 14's, and 2 12's that I run outta the front, in the back I have 6 8's. When someone mentions trolling in my part of the woods they typically mean longlining. Yes you cann still troll spiderirggin but it is at a MUCH lower speed so we just say spideriggin.
