Is there suppose to be a picture? Without one lets just say three pounds! Just kidding.
Went fishing today, only caught a few. Caught a crappie 15 inches long. My biggest one so far. Any ideas about approximate weight. Didn't have any scales. Thanks

It's pretty hard to estimate the weight of a Crappie by length alone. While there are charts & equations to give you a ball park average ... they're usually not all that accurate. I checked 4 different "calculator" systems, and the weight for a 15" Crappie ranged between 1.7lbs - 2.8lbs ... so you see how useless they really are.
A length measuring device is standard equipment, especially where there's a length limit for the species you fish for ... but, if you're really interested in what each fish "weighs" ... you really need to purchase a good weighing device, if it's that important to you.
The weight is also dependant on which species of Crappie (Black or White), & if it was a male or female (w/eggs). But, my experience tells me a average healthy 15" Crappie is probably right around the 2lb class.

That can't be answered by length. Crappie from say Dardanelle compared to Nimrod Crappie or like comparing apples to oranges. On Nimrod the 15'' will weight 1.5 to 1.75 lbs and more like 2 lbs on Dardanelle. All lakes and fish are not created equal. It's like trying to judge a women's weight by height alone.Rofl

I agree Nimrod. I've caught 15" crappie that have weighed 1.80lbs on one lake and then 2.05 on another.
I guess it all depends on whats in the belly. Big shad or eggs can make a huge difference.
Either way a 15" crappie is a true SLAB!
