Default smithville 4/7 late afternoon and early evening

Got the guppy out for Day 2 with all the necessary life jackets, throwables, minnow buckets, etc. Even BEER!!!

Found the new trolling motor kicks butt. Love the 70 lbs of thrust and spot lock feature. The new sonar/side/downscan is awesome too. Found brushpiles we had stored on our old FF on the new one without the GPS with EASE.

So if you're considering an upgrade. I'd say DO IT!! Just be prepared to bend over cuz it ain't cheap.

Now on to the fishing. As usual, Fisherman's Daughter killed me. She was mostly using minnows. I was stubborn and stupid until nearly the end ( I think we had 4 minnows left) and finished with the flourish.

No limits. She probably caught 12 or so. 4 keepers if you count niners. I caught 4. All at the end. Shady Hollow was the place to be for us. We tried several places at different depths, but SH was the best on minnows in about 17 ft of water, 13 ft downish. The bit every cast on minnows and once every 2 hours on something else.

Great afternoon. Gonna get better. I can't help it!!

Tight lines everyone and thanks to Darrel for the tips.

Sounds better than the maiden voyage for 2012. WTG Bruce! Another helping of humble pie from Miss Deanna, eh?

Deanna makes extremely good Humble Pie Joe. Maybe you should go with us sometime.

But yes a much better day and even the breezy conditions didn't completely ruin the day as it would have with my under powered trolling motor.

Yeah we all have to eat some pie sometime. Did the same thing with my wife sunday. I let her pick out the jig body, which she went for the pretty color one. I had to finally switch to her color since she was catch double of what i was catching.
