Default Another good day (4/4) here in NY...

Had to register my boat for new season, so I decided to drop a line in the water while there. Took a good friend of my Dad with me. Had another great day on the water (then again, what day isn't? ). Hit the water a little late (9am) and stopped fishing at 2pm (he had to be back). A little breezy and at times quite windy. Breezy helped as I didn't have to do much jigging, if any at all. Fished same spot as we did on 3/21, only the fish were in deeper water (bout a foot or so deeper).

Lure: Crazy Angler Salt n Pepper Shad, Crazy Angler Dirty Chicken Shad and BG Monkey Milk Shad - 1/24th oz. char colored jighead on sickle hook
    Water Temp: 57.4
    Depth: 6-8 ft.
    Fishing Depth: 3 - 3 1/2 ft.

Here's a pic of my catch (my Dad's friend holding my bag as I captured picture with my phone). I don't have a livewell like many folks, so I throw and keep my catch in the water (basket) while fishing. Picture may be a little dark. Dad's friend caught just as many!

    Definitely a good day.....

Thanks guys! ... Dad was my fishing partner til he passed in Oct 2010. This year I vowed to do more fishing as it's still quite hard for me to do. Instead of going alone, I decided to get one of his fishing buddies to join me. He's 76 yrs young and has learned a lot from my Dad. Sad but awesome thing he said to me... "You love to fish like your Father and you catch em like him as well" I hugged him and cried!

So, here I am wishing he were here and enjoying the success I'm having with the Crappies!! Love him and always will!

Thanks Dad!! .. not only being a Father, but being the MAN that you were in my life!!!

At my age, not much excites me more than a full basket of crappie, thanks
for sharin' nice photo. Memories are treasures of our past. Keep on makin' 'em.
Always heart warmin' to know older folks are being taken out to fish by the
younger folks. Still makin' good memories. Tight lines to ya.

Not even close to any of the 'finger lakes'. I'm fishing in a lake about 35 miles outside of NYC (Westchester County). I've fished with my Dad as far as Oneida, which is a "hike", but this, among other places, is where our boats are. No gas motors allowed. Electric or manual only. Also fish reservoirs as well (Amawalk, Muscot, Brewster). Crappie, Yellow perch, bluegills and especially BASS are in abundance.

If you're ever up this way (Orange C.), your welcome to fish Orange L. from my boat. Nice populations of panfish, bass and picks. Even got a 18lb carp last year!
