    Unhappy Boy howdy, it does!

If we get out at all tomorrow, I'm betting the water temp has dropped a couple of degrees. We'll figure on targeting saugeye, since they like this stuff and the crappie will most likely be glued tight to cover or deep. Blech. -Roberta

    Default Hueston Woods / Acton Lake... 5 / 13.

    Hi!
I decided to tuff out the rain today up by Oxford.
I was actually surprised the rain gave me a break, but
the wind was still a persistent pain.

The fish were consistently marking at 8 to 10 feet on the
fishfinder. I set up a drop shot rig with one pole, and
waited for the gentle tap. I was surprised with a dozen
or more crappie in the first hour, or so, two were over
14 inches. The rest that I kept were between 9.75,
and 11 inches long. They weren't slabs, but they would
contribute to my next fish fry.

Later, I just let out a little more line, and tried slow trolling
into the wind. I probably caught another 15, to 20 that way.
But, just about all of them were on the thin side, so they
    went back in the lake.

Note: All of the crappie I kept today, except one, were still
    loaded with eggs!

    "Gloves up!"

    Rick.

The only time we fish down at the spillway is winter. Too many unsavory types head there to party in warm weather. I don't like shore fishing there at all most of the time. - Roberta
