Default Will it do the job

I have my eyes on a 95 Ford Ranger 4cylinder 5speed standard shift, does this have enough get-up-and go to pull a 16ft Bass Tracker with a 25hp motor, most of my launches would be on patoka lake and i was just wondering if a 4 cylinder could pull the boat out of water.

I don't have any question that it would pull the boat just fine, but I would be worried about the ramps, even more if you fish in the winter months. I drive a 4 banger Ranger all day for my work truck, and for the gas mileage, I wish I felt comfortable pulling my boat, or I'd own another. After a few mishaps, and some hard to get to places I fished last year, I had to go get a 4 wheel drive not too long ago.

I have a 4 banger isuzu. It pulls my boat just fine. It is a 16' astro with a 50 mercury. The only time i have had a problem is on a wet slick ramp. Had to get my son to push with the boat motor to get her rolling... Also it is a bit tricky getting off the clutch and brake and on the gas to get going... Automatic is the way to go...

My son has a 4 cyc. automatic Nissan and he pulls his 17' Tracker ie 50hp motor just fine. Just have to understand it wont be a power hog so take it easy unless you wanna be replacing clutches. Pulling a load like that isnt exactly good for the truck....but you can get by if you baby it.

steep ramps will be your only real issue, otherwise should be fine.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Depends on the slope of the ramp. I almost burned up a clutch on a Ford Ranger pulling out a 18' Bayliner IO. Pulled on the road ok, but I never too went too far from home. I never used it on the lake with the steep ramp again.
