Default Finally, a day off to go fishing

I finally got a day off and took a friend, Chris to Lake LaFourche. Chris had never caught a crappie nor had he ever jig fished. We pull up to an old abandoned duck blind with brush all around the blind, About 5 ft deep and the lake had a lot of fresh water in it. Everyone at the ramp said no use fishing they had quit biting. Anyway i digress, I threw a grey ghost in on the brush and as Emiril would say BAM!!! a nice 12 incher, the wind was blowing me into the duck blind so i ease away from it get the fish loose and ease back into it this time with Chris in the same spot i was in he was fishing a Killer and once again BAM!!! another nice 12 incher. We ended up catching 8 nice fish around the duck blind and start heading out because my trolling motor was dead (gotta get a new battery) The water we were in was 5 ft deep in a pretty huge place off the main channel of the lake and it is full of stumps. Having a new motor i was trolling out so i wouldnt hurt the motor on stumps. and Chris was dragging the killer behind the boat when he hollered STOP i am hung up so i shut the motor down and he pulls up a very nice 14 1/2 inch 2 pounder...well it was game on i pulled out the brand new planer boards J White had inspired me to try and we trolled the "duck pond" we caught 16 crappie and two green carp as Jer would call them...what a nice way to finish the day...Thanks J.White and thanks for crappie camp...who says you cant teach a old dog new tricks....Sorry no pictures my daughter had the cam at a high school function.:D
