I have cast them before when the fishing was slow and caught a few usually just outside of the light zone or glow. One trip the biggest fish that we caught were on road runners and small crankbaits with a split shot out front.(usually use minnows) It never hurts to try and I usually try to think of something weird to throw each trip sometimes you get a suprise. Remember though to fish with what is working, I have a problem of after going through every bait in the boat to find what they want when I get on fish to change back to what I want to fish with.

I had luck catching crappie and bass at night a couple of times right after dark. Although it was at a pond, I was using a white RR head with a black grub and fishing a little faster than I normally do during the day. Keep the bait just below the surface, and let the vibration from the grub and blade do the work. When fish look up, they can see the black better than any other color at night.
