It's been hit or miss
If you check the reports from ODNR, you'll see that some lakes are having good crappie action, and less at others. Acton has been very inconsistant from what we've experienced and found out by talking to other fishermen. Last week, just about everybody who was crappie fishing were catching saugeye, including us. Some, but not a lot of crappie were also being caught.
Water temps are still below 65, and any crappie I've cleaned still have bright yellow, firm eggs, whish would indicate that they haven't started bedding heavily yet. Also, keep in mind that spawn doesn't happen all at once, but over several weeks.
This prolonged cool, wet, windy weather will drive them deep again and lower water temps a couple degrees. Just like last year. - Roberta
