The easiest way to learn is to spend a day with an experienced crappie guy. Check out the Alabama board and try to hook up with someone. Or hire a guide for a day.

All depends on the body of water you'll be fishing and what you've got in the way of a boat, gear, etc.

To get started your lightest bass rig will work (got a medium light rod that handles 4-10 lb line?). Mention your lake(s) on the Alabama board and you'll get specific recommendations.

Its addicting man so be prepaired to start buying crappie gear soon. The fish taste better than bass and you have to fish them a little slower but its worth it. Get a cheap ultralight from somewhere and get some 1/16oz hooks. My favorite crappie jig tube is white and chart here in MO but in AL in maybe different. It should be prime time around lakes near you soon as the crappie should spawn and be right up on the banks and aggressive. This is an excellent time to try out Crappie fishin. Try what suites you best take alot of pictures and post alot..........Good luck.

This is an easy switch for you. Spinning set up with 4, 6 or even 8 pound line. A 1/16th ounce jig head and any 2" curly tail grub that you like. Throw it at, beside and behind any thing you have ever tossed a bass bait at. Wont take you long to be hooked.

Grab you a pfluger ultralite reel and a 7ft b n m sams ultra sensitive rod.string it with 4lb spiderwire...... get ya some 1/16 oz jig heads and some different plastics to put on em. grizzley jigs.com can hook ya up with that. Just use that rig like your bass fishen. troll the pads and cast into pockets in the summer and you will tear em up. tip it with a minnow or a wax worm. Same as bass fishen just try to trigger strikes. they hit lite so hook set is allot differt then bass but youll figure it out. good luck.........
    Happy Hooken.....
