Looking for any info on how to build my own rod. Info like what is a really good blank, best guides, best handle, etc; Anyone have such info?

Fiberglass RodMaking by Clemens is a good start. My copy is several years old but info is still good...be it glass or graphite.

I have used many of these blanks/guides/reel-seats over the years and have never been disappointed. Just choose the length, size at the base and tiptop size and you can make a very educated guess at what you want. You will also need to look at the size bait that you plan to use.
