If Weiss is crappie capital, why are the guides flocking to Neely Henry?
There have been more than 5 different Weiss Lk guides on Guntersville this week that I know of!
Was planning on going to Weiss this week, never crappie fished the big G, maybe I should.
Yeah they go to Guntersville for a reason! I haven't been over there myself in a while since I've been focusing on Smith Lake lately, but Guntersville is in a whole different class when it comes to fish size.
I was told by some Bobby Garland reps at a crappie tournament last year that non-locals are starting to really notice that Guntersville is more than just a great bass lake. They also said that the fish we were weighing in were some of the biggest and healthiest looking fish that they had seen in a while.
I wonder how many of those guides are aware they need to have a captains license to be a guide on Tenn river. I didn't know it until someone sent me a link to send to someone I know that guides on Guntersville Lake. This is the link:

You do not cease to fish because you get old, You get old because you cease to fish
Shootndocks you are correct on the Coast Guard Licenses. All of the guides that fish in South Alabama around the Mobile area have a 6 pac license they can have a maximun of 6 passangers or fisherman. If they are in fresh or salt water if it is navigational waters it is required. Weiss, Smith, and any other enclosed bodies of water were their is no barge traffic are not included. But any waterway that is connected to the Tenn. river it is a requirement and the find is exteremly high.
HAVE A GOOD DAY AND GOD BLESS
