Got told today but haven't seen any proof yet but was told that a guy bass fishing the mud creek area on lake weiss caught a 5 pound 6 oz crappie on a crankbait. Anyone else heard it?

with all the folks lately talking down Weiss, that would sure bring back the title "crappie capital of the world", i just went to IFGA and the WORLD record is 5lb 3oz and has stood since '57 . For the good folks of the area i sure hope its true!!

Funny thing is, i fish that area and last week couldnt buy a keeper! but man i got lots of 3 and 4" lunkers!!

I would love to see a crappie that size!

It is strange I was shown a picture today and was told that a man stripper fishing in Smith Lake had caught a new state record crappie. So there must be 2 fish that weight 5 lb. and 6 ozs.. It was a very large fish but I would have to see it in the record book to believe it.

HAVE A GOOD DAY AND GOD BLESS!!!

i lost a few tuesday that looked like they might go 5 or 6lbs. haha. but mine always lose a pound or two in the livewell within a couple of hours. so mine were probably about 2-2.5. its funny i never lose a small one.

there are pictures and tales of this fish floating all over the internet and the same fish has been caught in several places. Do not believe it until you have proof.

Yeah I was sent a picture of one of these supposedly 5lb 6oz fish, and it looked to me like a Photoshop job. Actually I think I may have seen the same picture a few years back now that I think about it.
