Living in Evansville and looking for fishing spots...

I have recently moved to Evansville, IN and was wondering if anyone knew of any good fishing lakes. I heard to go up to Lynville to a public lake there. Any word on it? We also like to catfish and mainly do it down in southern IL. I am currently driving to Rend Lake, but would like to find somewhere a little closer. Thanks for any help.

Look into the Strip Pits down there can get more info from conservation officers also Patoka Lake is great for Cats bass bluegill and crappie

I went to Blue Grass Strip pits and all we were able to get into were some small sun fish and some bass. Is there any certain lake that is better to fish at here? I will tell you that i took the boat out on the Ohio and put in at Newburgh and only fished for about a mile down river and caught 29 cats. We fish the Ohio down in southern IL all the time and just decided to try it here. Could not beleive how good the fishing was. We were using chicken livers just to let you know. Wish ya luck.
