Default Anyone been on the Crappie lately?

Haven't been Crappie fishing for awhile. Wondered if anyone was having luck, what water temps are (and where) and what they seem to be doing. Just guessing but I was hoping with the warm temps lately that they'll be holding at the trib mouths and near to spawning grounds.

Thinking about hitting up Burnsville or Elk Fork this saturday to pick up a mess.

Yeah I did and it was rough. Think it may have been the first time I was skunked while crappie fishing.

Sky was clear, not as warm as I hoped and water was so muddy it was literally like 2inch visibility.

Main body of water was 49 deg but in the main trib arm it shot up to 55 and in one area it was 60! That was the only spot I saw any activity. The fish I marked were all holding tight to structure just within steep drop-offs. I lost plenty of jigs, big and small, light and dark. Tried small cranks, minnow imitations, rooster tails, gulp worms, meal worms, bobber/no-bobber. Finally gave up and fished bass on the way back to the dock....no good there either. No one I talked to caught anything.

Good day for a float on the water, bad day to catch a fish.

My Dad caught a few last week at mountwood park. He was fishing for trout by troling mepps spinners and ended up with a few nice size crappie.

We were at Tygart Lake over the weekend. All small mouth bass, no crappie. See my other thread for more detail if you're interested.
