Recessed Foot Control?

Anyone have any experience long lining or spider rigging with a recessed foot control in front center of boat with double seats up front? I have my pedal bolted in the center and can still reach it good even with double seats but concerned with what it would be like recessed? I am fishing out of a G3 1860 DLX. I am thinking of recessing the pedal after fishing out of another boat yesterday that had a recessed pedal. It really seemed to help my back pain a bit.
