Default Avoid Using Black Walnut For your brush

Someone on another crappie board ask about what kind of brush to use for a crappie hole and I told him about this and thought I would pass this along here as well.

    FYI......

I don't know this first hand, but do believe the guy that told me this is a straight shooter.

We don't have many black Walnut trees around here, but we do have some and they will ruin a crappie hole for good. So don't use any brush from a black walnut tree.

Never heard about the brush, but folks here I've heard used to smash up
a bunch of green walnuts, put 'em in a bag, and use 'em to make the fish
come to the top in a small creek hole, so they could be picked up -
similar to "muddying", if any of you have ever heard of that...
    Probably something to it!

Ever gotten black walnut juice on your hands??? The hull on a walnut is green and mushy. The juice looks clear. But it quickly turns black and you can't get it off - it has to wear off. I think it is what they make walnut stain out of.

I also believe walnut is very acidic (or exactly the opposite - not good either). I can't imagine branches small enough to use in a hole would be a good choice, since the branches are very juicy also.
