They eat baby Crappie too, voraciously!

    Try a Rapala DT-6 model #DTO4BG, its 2" long and dives to 6' or a Bandit 200 model #2D35 and #2D37

Don't know what company they were from, but I've seen some soft bluegill swimbaits that were 3x2in or so.

    edit:
Googled it and check this out:
    Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill Swimbait

The ones I saw were in 3 packs and less expensive.

Don't forget the peanut- and nano-sized crank baits for casting or the vertical jigging lures like the tiniest Chubby Darter or the fat jigging Rapala.

Just get you some custom tied jigs with a color combination of any 3 of these colors - red/orange/blue/green/yellow - and you'll have a Crappie catching jig (for as long as they continue to feed on the Bluegill fry, anyway). I'd get them in 1/64-1/32oz sizes, so as to emulate the size of the fry, as well as the coloration.

It pays to remember that crappies are a major predator of all kinds of fry including their own and a whole lot of young of the year of the smaller species.
