    Default Kayak First Day Out

My older son and I have been looking to get a couple of kayaks, but just haven't made the move yet. So my younger son and his girlfriend went to Bass Pro Thursday and bought them each a kayak. We put his on our pond about 9:00 that night to try it out. So today, my older son and I took the jon boat and went to Wappapello with not much luck. Well my younger son and his girlfriend went to a private pond to try out their kayaks and ultralight rods they had bought that same day. They were using a small spinner, something like a bigger beetle spin. They caught a few crappie, a few bass and a bream. Then my son caught a 10# bass. They took a great picture of him just after he got it in. If I can figure out how to post it I will. He is a good fisherman, but talk about spoiling you to kayak fishing.

He got the Ascend FS10. He is 6' and about 260#. He seems to really like it so far. I rode in it myself and like it also. I still think about the sit-on for myself.

I looked at that sit on top a few weeks ago and i personally thought i looked very plane jane and would be difficult to accessorize but thats just my personal opinion

Here are the pictures of the 10# bass that my son caught on his maiden voyage in his F10 Ascend.

Just my 2 cents, but I would get a "sit on top" yak. Much more versatility to accessorize, much more stable.
I have been fishing out of a kayak for about 10 years and have tried them all. Prefer to paddle rather than peddle
mainly because of cost and weight of the peddle yaks.

Kayaks are addictive. Slow, quiet, stealthy, comforting, relaxing, fun!
