Default Rod holders for bass boat.

I want to put rod holders on my Champion Mean 16... I don't plan to spider rig but I'd like to have a couple of holders on each side for slip float fishing while I cast a jig or tightline the remaining rod. Boat is glass..

I hate to drill into the polyflake rail, but mounting on the deck will interfere with the doors on the rod locker.... Anyone out there dealt with this problem.
Yeah, I know, a REAL crappie fisherman would drill the holes, cover the accent stripe and catch fish... Just looking for options.

I don't know how well this picture will show up. But what I did was take a 2X6and made some holders out of PVC. Actually, you could mount any type holder to them. On the inside of the 2X6 I screwed a aluminum plate with a spacer at the top of it so that would slide into the cleat and could easily be removed. I used them for many years until I went with something that was higher.

You might check out the Bee Ready. I've heard a lot of good about these and they don't break the bank.

I've had all kinds from homemade to all the namebrands. His are without a doubt the best I've ever used. The simplicity, yet user friendly design is unreal and you can buy them individually at fair price!

I did notice something on the bee ready site. some of the guys evidently used yellow noodles and put them around the T bar. I lost one of my Tite Lok Ultras when I hung up one time. I will do it this week. It would also be good as a hook holder when moving.

    Here is the pic:

I think the mistake a lot of us make is thinking the state-appointed shrink is our friend.

Thanks for all the ideas... I'll let you know what I do... Will be a few weeks.

Just found this on Bass Pro site... Like the simplicity and looks, mounts on the inside where the bracket doesn't show with the holder removed. Only $15 for the bracket and holder. Doesn't have have the "hi rise" feature that some do but looks good otherwise. Whadda think? (My DIY projects usually reflect kindergarten craftsmanship)

    Thanks again.
