What size is better 1.5 inch or 2 inch? And what size hook is better to use size 4 or 6?

Yamamoto makes a 1 3/4" its a really well made tube. But I use 1.5" and 2" Southern Pro also. It depends on the situation.

A 2 with a #2 is hard to beat but in the spring in shallow water or under a float a 1.5 with a #4 16 or 32 ounce is awesome. I use this as a gauge. A bait fish in deep water is normally a shad which are bigger say 2-4 inches where a bait wish in shallow water is normally a minnow or spawn fry which are smaller say 3/4 - 2 inches long. Just a little food for thought

All I use year in and year out is 1/8 roundheaded jigheads with #2 hook pushed inside a 2'' umbrella tube. I insert head in rear of tube bait pop eye of hook out when in place. Seldom have trouble with tube pulling off. But then I verticle jig most of the time. The fish here feed on large Shad and this bait is still way smaller than what they're eating. I've fished 12 times in my local lake in the last month and limited with this every trip. Try it in a purple/chartruse. Tip , put a #14 barrel swivel inline about 2' above the jig to stop line twist.
