Good picture showing how well he is fitting in. It being a rainy day here for me and after seeing your picture I'm a thinking you'll be having much more quality time with you canine companion after he finishes and completes his weaseling job of getting into your home and heart.

So I'll share some pictures showing how far those canine critters have weaseled into my home and heart.

This first picture is of two of the three brittany spaniels I've contented with in my life. Thought it just might show how much more weaseling you might have left to contend with from our canine friend as time goes on.

I also had the dog bed beside my chair, like your arrangement, but when I got the second dog his bed/basket was across the room and directly in front of my chair. The younger dog would spend some time in the older dog's bed, usually chewing on the wicker basket, but only when the older one was elsewhere. When I had to say good by to the older dog I moved the younger dog's bed beside my chair thinking he would prefer that location. Surprisingly the younger dog could never accept having his bed there. I'm thinking since he grew up being able to see my ugly mug and reading the slightest variations in my facial expression he was able to perceive so exactly the slightest changes in my moods. I really appreciated that the dog seemed so concerned with my moods and was wanting to please me but it did kind of tick me off at times when I really didn't want him to read my real mood.

Here is a picture of the dogs after having a very good day in the field.

I acquired the second dog after finding out the first one had a cancerous lump in his neck and was told he probably only had 6 months left but fortunately the doctors were wrong since the younger dog was probably 6 years old when I finally said good by to the older dog. It was great being able to have both dogs working at the same time. Finally when the younger dog was 8 years old and thinking about getting another dog started I determined that I wouldn't be able to get another dog started and trained on wild birds due to a decline in numbers and my older age.

Here is a picture of the younger dog as he spent his remaining days on the carpet watching out for my moods as I spent much time on the computer. We finally had to say good by to him last November and we are seeing if we can remain pet free while enjoying all the fond and not so fond memories from those canine heart weaseling critters.

Sure hoping I haven't bored you all to tears even though I must un-ashamedly admit fighting them off just by making this post.

Oh well thanks for reading this far in and I'll just grab another tissue and post this.

Looks like he's taking after the old man!

Ours is a rat terrier. Like all rat terriers she suffers from the disease hunting-on-the-brain. But she's only interested in vermin (rat terriers were bred to basically patrol the silos and kill any rat, chipmunk, squirrel, etc. that tried to eat the grain). She'll chase deer and fox off the property because...well, they're animals and she's not fond of animals, but she wouldn't think of hunting them.

LBM, I loved reading your post and seeing your pictures. It only took Charlie a very short time to firmly find his way into our hearts, our furniture and the foot of the bed. It's a good thing I'm short cause that's a lot of dog on my side of the bed. I'm still in awe of how well he's doing with our two dachshunds. They're both older (10 yrs) than him and as big as he is, he defers to them and he's only stepped on them a couple times, plus, he loves to play with them. We're introducing him to the boat as soon as we get a few warm days. This should be interesting, to say the least. I so enjoy when we share our dog stories because they are indeed part of the family and loved just as much.
