Default A Good Read on Color Choice at Different Depths

It gets talked about a lot, but I found this to be a good read on understanding color choices with different depths.

Thanks, interesting read. Of course, my home lake is only 15ft deep so just about any color is going to show, but it's nice to know.

Really good read, have read samething written in different ways. Have a old color selector and basically learned to understand light penetration affect on colors using it after reading articles in bass magazines on line color visibility under water. I still find myself using bright colored lures on overcast days and dingy water and wondering why I'm not getting bit.

Those depths were for clear water under perfect conditions, murky or muddy waters block light so colors disapear much shallower.

I learned a lot about this in night college classes after I'd passed the know it all kid stage. It's referred to in physical science as Raleigh Scattering Effect. This was just as the old color selectors were the rage and was ready to take the plunge myself. Makes it simple, just stick with the blues and purple at deeper depths. Understanding this improved my fishing.
