just wondering if anyone has ever made any submergable fishing lights at home before and if you had step by step instructions on how you did it? And the materials that you used? I know there is alot of DIY ideas out there, just havnt seen any for underwater light's. I have seen alot of intrest on the boards about them and thought this thread could be useful if anyone has any information I would appreciate it as well as others I am sure. I have an idea on how to make some just havent put it all together yet, a few do's and dont's from folks with experience would be helpful, Thanks in advance.

thanks for the info. I am familiar with his site i just would like to build my own if I can. Its not about the price or anything im just a DIY kinda guy. i work in a machine shop so I feel like i can make just about anything. I have an idea on how to make some im just not an expert on electrical work and was j/w how some people wired em together and what kind of sealant they used, etc. Thanks for the tip but Im gonna do it myself, its nice to be able to build your own stuff and learn a little in the process.

i built this one from using a clear tube that is used to transport light bulbs.
its capped on the ends by pvc and waterproof pvc glue.
the green LED strip was bought at autozone. wired in a low voltage cable to the LED strip and on the other end of the cable i placed a 12v plug which plugs into my battery box. cost about $30 and took about 1 hour to complete.
i've used it multiple times and it works fine.
this is what i am talking about, nice job man. That is almost exactly the same way i was thinking of doing it myself. Harbor freight down the road from me has blue and green 12v led strips for $9.99. Im just trying to come up with a way to enclose them without them shorting out.

I dont have anywhere to get the clear tube though, I thought about using clear hose from Lowes but decided against it.

As mentioned I build "Above or below water lights, don't matter"
Also can truefully say that I blowed $2,500 when I first started
and know of 1,0001 ways how not to build them.
Had issues that would make the average DIY man cry in his sleep.
But I stuck with it and have a series of lights which am very proud
to call "REEL LITES"
Many competitors sell their lights 1/2 again what a Reel lite sells
for.............almost unheard of in the industry with a 2 year warranty
and 180 day money back.
There are just some things that DIY is not worth the effort, building
lights should be one of them.

There is no doubt that you have some fine lights, i just want to buld my own. there is no way i will sink $2500.00 in this project, its just for fun, not a business for me. I just like messin around in my little shop, I build everything I can on my own and they usually come out pretty decent. I have made double seat stands, trolling racks, rod racks, and a few other things that have held up pretty well so i dont think I will cry while trying to make a light, worst comes to worst i just break down and order one but dont underestimate the DIY guys, thats how things get invented everyday.
