    Default Riches

Just watched the Spanish Fly TV show today, and Jose was fishing with his daughter, now 28, and thought of how he and I parallel with our kids right now. Mine are 27 and 29, and have accompanied me on many trips. The older one just loves the scenery and peace and quiet, and the younger one loves the fish, squirrels, Eagles, Turtles, Mink, and all the other wildlife we have seen over the years. So many times we get caught up in our everyday path that some of these things that we did with our kids slide by and stop us in our tracks as we remember things gone past. Some folks have money to buy the finest, some are lucky enough to be able to be home every day to see all the games. Some of us have to run hard to keep up with the duties we have before us, and some handle them at a walk, never flustered. Whatever you find yourself doing every day, take a minute to count your wealth to those around you. The most valuable thing I have doesn't fit in my wallet, or the bank, and isn't recognised at any cash register. It comes in a 5 minute phone call in the middle of a busy day from one of my girls when they say something like" hey Daddy, do you remember when we did......."
Times are way different than when I was a kid, but that one thing hasn't and will not change in my mind. Parents of young ones, don't blink. Before you realize what's going on you'll be at graduation and these times will be gone. Live your life as a wealthy man with an empty wallet. Thanks for visiting with me and letting me ramble, just had to say this that has been on my mind for a while now.....Sket

    Very Well said Skeet.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

Great post! I saw the same show and thought it was great. Sounds like you did great with your kids, sorry I meant young adults.

My kids, and the desire to spend time with them, are the biggest reasons I no longer drive a semi.
Gave up a $45,000 a year job for one that pays half as much, but I get to see my family. And that more than makes up for the money!
I love HIM because HE first loved me.
