    Default Back off!!!

A friend and I limited out today on crappie. We caught some really nice fish as well, 3 of which were over 14 in and 1 was 15 in. It was a really good day but, several times I was fit to be tied. People are getting less and less respectful or mindful of others space and I believe it's jealousy. We were long line trolling and were doing well when a boat trolling faster than us came around us and then pulled in front so close that I stopped my trolling motor to keep from running over his lines. Then later in the day we found a nice school of fish and anchored and were smoking them. We try to not make a scene and just slip the boats in but, the fish were big and full of fight. Wouldn't you know that a boat pulls up and starts casting right into the place we were fishing. As a matter of fact I casted and one of the other fellas casted and our lines crossed. Later when the school moved slightly from our marker bouy we folllowed it maybe 20 yards and another boat trolled right up between us and our bouy. THEN, (I'll shut up after this) the wind got up and we were going to fish a bank. There was a boat on it so we assumed that they were moving on and we moved in 75-100 yards behind them and my friend nailed a big one (which got off) and they saw us and turned around and came back and were so close that I could read the words on the mans hat. They started casting into the same brush pile we were on. I'm not one to bite my tounge (as some already know) and I let each person know that they were close enough but, no one seems to really care. They simply look at you like they are stupid or something. Anyways, I'm off my soap box now.

    Here are todays keepers.

Here is a picture of my son (two trips ago) and his lunkers. He always catchs the lunker whether he does or not. LOL!!

Yea it really is sad, I could never do that even if it meant a guaranteed catch. We were in the back of a creek recently, lot of guys spaced well apart and enjoying the day, when a guy in a wrapped boat came in at half plane and just about sunk the smaller boats as he drove by. He got to the end, turned around and done it again. Ruined a lot of guys holes not to mention attitudes. Respect is thrown out the door nowadays. Sorry I'm ranting with you but it just sticks in your crawl and doesn't go away for a while. Let's try to go out of the way to be extra respectful to one another.

You could always cast a 2 ounce KY rig into his boat and I think he would get the idea. lol

I've had this happen before to me and saw it happen to others. I was at grenada one day and saw some out of staters in a boat pull underneath a couples (a guy & his twenty something year old daughter)poles while they were bank fishing. I thought that little redneck gal was gonna come unglued. If it weren't for her daddy those guys wouldv'e found out you don't mess with a southern girl!! By the way nice catch, looks like you did very good & your correct about the jealous bit. These type guys don't have enough sense to catch fish on their own,the only thing the know how to do is follow somebody elses lead.

Fishorhunt you have my sympathies and you aren't alone on this. It's just amazing how some folks will act on the water.

Hope this doesn't bore you to tears but it is in the same vein as your post so here goes.

i had been catching lots of big bream on beds and took an older man one day. i pulled up to where i knew a bed was and we started catching bream one after another. here comes a man in a boat and starts throwing into the bed. i said, "have you ever thought about finding your own fish?" he said, "not really." i said, "i've seen ******** like you." and turned to the man in the boat with me and said, "you are gonna get my *** whipped." the man left. i don't recommend doing that every time. another time on the same lake i was on a hugh bed with the same man and boat would come towards us but back off. that day they respected us and the older man with me had a ball. it's all about respect. something that's been lost of late.

Fishorhunt, I totally understand. The last two springs I have the greatest problems with bass fishers and 200+ engines cutting in front of my boat or either they will be in a back of a creek and come out wide open between me and the point while I am trying to spider rig the creek mouth opening. I started carrying a bright yellow small towel and give them a warning wave. I quess I need to carry a checker flag when the bassers race back for weigh in time. Safety and common courteousy go a long way in my book. Hopefully the people of Crappie.com that you meet or encounter on the water don't pull these antics.
