Here is old thread that will bring you up to speed

    Now to answer your questions:
Kerosene lamps, draws bugs, and light rays reflect off the water back up into the trees.
Not to mention gas and kersone lights don't mix well!

    See: Light deflection

The LED lights are submerged recommend 2-4' using a bobber setup

Answer your question for lighting inside the boat
Coming Feb a nice inexpenisve way to light inside
the boat, recommend green or blue
    Lighting inside the boat

Reel Lites led lights battery draw

The smallest one draws 0.04 amps
    The 612 draws 2.40 amps

    The picture of the 612
Here is comment from one of my Pro Staff
    ============================================
Well I ran a test on how long it lasts on the battery pack. I used a multimeter to check
the voltage at full charge. It had 13 volts starting. I plugged the light in and went to
    work.

8 hours later I get home and the light is still going! And it's just as bright as when I left. I
get out the multimeter again and it reads 11 volts!

Now I'm no math genius but the equates to 1 volt lost every 4 hours. The pack has a
self test light and I pressed it and it read as still being good.

I would say this would easily run 24 hours on the battery pack. I am very impressed. I
highly recommend using this battery pack with all the light.

Yes you will have enough jice left in cranking battery
but that is not a good idea.............what if something
went wrong and you had zero battery.

You can use a 12v lawn mower battery pick up at garage sales
or purchase a: Caframo 12 volt battery pack for about $30.00
Which was what Bart Giles the pro-staff used when he tested the light (statment above)

    Now depending on your budget
The smallest LED light was the grandfather of Reel lites
and 90% of Testimonials were about that light

Here is a quote from full time proffesional guide
OK, I tried out something new
tonight and it was the coolest
thing ever.. I fished the docks
while it was raining with a new
    product called Reel-lites. It's a 612
    led submersible light with 2600
lumen's and I can truly say that it
    lights up everything. The plankton
    and minnows showed up within
minutes. Had my first fish hooked
on in less than five minutes. We
fished for 2 hours and at one time,
we were catching whites one after
another. It's really neat to see the
    fish swimming around the green
    light. Ended up catching walleye,
LMB, drum, and tons of whites.
You have to check them out.

    Hopefully answers your questions
    2 years warranty
    50,000 hours bulbs (17 years)
can be used inside, outside the boat
    much more

    What color?
    Green or white for freshwater
    Blue for deep sea
or Blue as 2nd light inside the boat.

Bob I ordered a green 204 LED also ordered 100 LED
blue lite to have inside the boat to use so as not be
tripping over things I deer and turkey hunt a lot and
have found that blue lites are easier for eye to adjust
in the dark without having night blindness when
    turning lite off and on.

    What Lumen's to order?
Fishing in darker waters purchase one of the brighter
    lights.
All lights will work, but to your advantage
brighter ones are better for darker waters

    Question: Why so many lights?
Just like cars....all cars have 4 tires, small tires,
medium tires, big tires. Small engines, medium
engines, big engines. The same with lights, some
people want medium light say for a kayak, others want
bank fishing lights, some want more lumen etc
