    Default grass shrimp

After 2 yrs of trying worms, minnows, jigs and everything else I bought a grass shrimp net. Have not used it yet, any tips? Especially hook size. Thanks! Spec fishing here in Fl is so much different than in NY, I have really struggled and done a lot better in the rivers than the lakes.

I grew up on Okeechobee and very seldom used minnows, unless we were spider rigging alot of poles. Grass shrimp was the bait of choice for me, with that said I used them mostly for gills. If I used them for crappie I tipped a jig with them. I would use tube jigs tipped with crappie nibbles if I were to go back. If fishing under cork with grass shrimp I would use a #2 or #4 hook.

I catch my grass shrimp every spring. I catch about a quart jar full. I have some small butter containers that I have been using a couple of years. I put a hand full in each container and add corn meal to it. Shake it up real good and put it in the freezer. When you get ready to use a container let it stand over night and shake it up. They don't get soft, they come out almost like they were caught yesterday. Try it, it works
