Don't know what happened to the post it printed all screwed up but you get the idea....
I recently picked up a older model motor guide with a variable speed control . Now I'm looking for idea's on how to adapt it to a bigger trolling motor . this a tiller model with the square handle 30lbs trust. I'm thinking of removing the controller and hooking it to the larger 55 pound thrust??? any idea's will be good Thanks Rich

the motor have to be wired for variable speed, not just the switch,if I am understanding you right

well the motor guide has a sliding switch which i'm thinking of remounting it so I can slow down a larger motor
Fixed speed motors use speed coils in the foot to reduce the speed. You would probbaly have to remove these and replace the hardware there to allow the PWM circuit from the other motor to work. There is far more than just the switch that produces the variable speed. I'd be concerned that the current demands of the 55lb motor would be too much for the speed control circuit from the 30lb motor.
he can't leave well enough alone.
