Hey I'm from pine bluff I don't use yoyos but I run jugs about 5 ft deep year round pretty much the same thing
I have what is probably a stupid question. It is now mid-january in Arkansas and i am itching to go set some yo-yo's on an overnight trip. Is it too early to be setting yo-yo's? I know most people tend to catch them in 10-15 ft. of water this time of year but will they still come up in the shallows at nightime to feed? Would i be wasting my time until the spring spawn starts with yo-yo's?

you should have no problem. I start running them about this time down here. No matter what, it is a good time especially when you hear the "ching" when you are still setting them out. Good Luck and have fun! I tend to set the shiner just below the surface of the water.
On shallow lakes like Conway, I'd say get er done!
