Against my better judgement, I attempted to fish Crab Orchard today in the middle of the 4 man Bill Harkins Memorial Bass Tournament. Anyway, I managed to pick my way through about 200 bass boats and get some fishing in but it was rough. The males are up very shallow relating to wood. The bigger ladies however seem to still be holding out over brush piles in 10 feet of water. They are full of eggs and much larger than the ones on the bank. Those males really are pretty this time of year though. If I didnt know better I would think they were black crappie..but they arent. Anyway, water temps are in the low 70's all over. I really dont mind those big females not being on the bank. They are just as easy to get at in 10 feet of water and that pattern is always reliable at Crab. Good fishin everyone. If your goin to Crab on Sunday, you will be in the middle of part 2 of the bass tournament.
