All right fellas, how bad do you have this Crappie Virus?...everybody has factors that enable them to enjoy the sport. Decided to make the 115 mile trip(one way) to Crescent yesterday(Sunday) finding thick frost on windshield of this 28 degree Florida morning. Forecasted NW winds @10 mph seemed doable for my longlining venue but decided to go without minnows to really test color factor. Only caught 6 fish in 7 hours, but marked excellent baitpods w/accompanying fish marking. Can only believe minnows would have made a difference. Here are a couple Crappie "croissants" from today's financial outlay.
Tried about 10 - 12 colors and single/double jigs w/wo split shots, varied line lengths...no patterns could be observed. Water temperature was 58 degrees.

That is extreme!!! Wish I had the audacity to venture out into the cold and wind. I guess everyone's got an area they need to improve upon.

Tell me you nailed one of them on that new lucky pole you won at the fest, satisfaction of breaking-in a new pole is priceless! Nice pic...
crappie down !
Nice fish! Guess your ready for the Slabfest!
For only having caught 6, those are nice. Cold weather fishing is the norm here, and there's times that we slay em and everyone else is home with a cup of coffee. Oh well, not my job to educate em. Car troubles are gonna keep me from pulling the boat for a while, and it's KILLIN ME!!!
