Egg whites look like jelly?

I was fixing some breakfast earlier and got out a new carton of white store bought eggs that I have no idea why my wife purchased. Opened up the first one and although the yoke looked fine, the egg whites looked almost like apply jelly. I have never in my life saw that before. So I tossed it in the trash and got out my good ol brown eggs compliments of my rhode island reds.
