Default St. Croix Panfish series - 7 ft.

    1-piece, light action, x-fast tip

Anybody had a chance to try one of these out yet? Good backbone?

Well, this won't be for dipping or long lining. It will be a casting rod. I've got two 10' 6" ESPs for the other.

    Thanks Jiggin

Do you like the ESP rods? They feel good in the store but never actually fished with one yet.

Those sound simular to the 7' Avids that I use, I dont feel they are to long for fishing brush piles or dock shooting. I own 4 of them and that is all that I use when casting.

The ESP rods are nice. I've only used them a handful of times since I got them. Fast tip, really good backbone, etc. I also like that you can move the reel up and down on the cork handle to get it balanced just right, depending on how you hold the rod.

The Avids are an UL action correct? This is a light action with an x-fast tip, so it should have some backbone to it. Brand new rod for 2012.
