    Default Hillsdale 1/5 - 1/6

Well a week ago Thur. Lee and I hit HD and limits were caught by 10:30 am and off the lake by noon....a real rarity for us but with the shad in big schools it was pretty easy to stay in the biting fish ( the guide didn't suck like usual:p ) Now on this Thur we tried some new spots with no luck but found some drop-offs (20-30 fow) loaded with shad and the bite was slower than last week but steady enough to keep us on the lake til 1:30, 28 keepers. The CO was waiting for us at the ramp for a boat, fish and license check and Lee found out his fire estinguisher was dead...but no worries he had a spare and didn't get a ticket. Pretty decent guy so I asked him some regulations questions and found out 1) when the livewell is drained all the fish can be put in one cooler or bucket and don't have to be seperated out per each fisherman 2) confirmed culling is legal until the last fish of your limit is put in the livewell (wanted to make sure Lee heard this from the horses mouth) 3) it's illeagal to fill out another fishermans limit but you can give someone else your fish if you fill out a donation form and that person has to carry that form when transporting the fish home 4) you don't have to keep your fish seperated in an undivided livewell ( don't have to clip finns or put on a stringer etc.) 5) it's not illegal when ice fishing to throw your fish on the ice instead of immediately having to put them in a bucket (this rumors crops up every ice fishing season) BACK TO FISHING.... Today fished the same dropoffs as Thur. 5 quick ones in the box and then nothing...kept looking for the shad pods and would find a few keepers in each one. We were about ready to head home but Lee found a couple more hot spots and when we left at 2pm we had 33 that would keep. The best fishing was where the drop would go from 18to 30 ft. in and around the trees. Best colors were blue/chart,orange/chart,pink/purple slab slayers and blue/white, orange/chart,blue/chart duece. Where to find the fish....LOOK FOR THE BOATS
FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS & FISHING...... hopefully in that order but honestly, not always!
