    Default learning how to troll


    On a four rod holder what are the best size poles for the two outside poles and inner thanks for any advice.

    Are you setting them up to fish from the side of the boat or from the rear, it does make a difference. Off the back start with the shortest to the inside and progress from there, if fishing from the side of the boat, use your shortest rods on the back holders going up in length as you move forward in the boat, hope this helps some.

    If you fish off the front,All the same lenght.

    I'm not as multi-pole comfortable as some....

    I use a 12' and a 7' on each side of the boat....

    This gives me at least 5' between baits...

    That's the setup that I use. 2 x 12' BnM Pro Staff Trolling rods and 2 x 7' Ugly Stik CAL1100 rods out the back when longlining or using planer boards. I'll use 6 of the 12' BnM's out the front if I am spider rigging.

    i use 8 14ft capps&coleman fanned out the front spidder riggin unless lake or state regulation!!!!!!!!!!!

    I will mostly troll in the front i would like to fan out my 4 to 8 poles.

    I like same length rods for the front of the boat to give me an even spacing. It helps me keep an eye on the rod tips better and is easier to detect strikes.

    I "long line" troll(jigs 60 to 80 feet behind the boat.Rods on the front of the boat are 12,,10,,8,, and 6 foot off each side with the longest being the first rod,and 4 to 6 off the back all close to the same length,5.5 to 6'
