I have been running trials on them for a while on Ky. Lake and they seem to catch everything but crappie. I think they will ruin the spawning banks and hope they get outlawed here. The bass guys sure love them. I don't !

How are will ruining the spawning banks? Will it be any different than putting out 4 or 5 slip floats?

I was under the impression that rigs like this, if running more than one jig or hook on it, were already outlawed in Kentucky....at least for crappie that is. Maybe not for stripes and hybrids. I might be wrong, but I thought I read the ruling on it just the other day. If they are not.....in my opinion...they should be....or at least held to one hook.

Why do you think they should be outlawed?

As for those who believe the umbrella rig is somehow unsportsmanlike, you should know that the same argument has been made for side-imaging, GPS, sonar and even the plastic worm. When these tools were introduced, a segment of the public clamored that they be outlawed because they were so effective, so destructive and so easy to use and catch fish that the bass couldn't possibly withstand their widespread use.

The bottom line is that the Alabama rig is a tool and a small piece in a very large puzzle. It won't catch even one bass unless an angler puts it in front of one with the right bait attached and retrieved at the proper speed.

Ok so from now on I'm never going to click on a thread that has the word "rig" in the title again.
