What is everyone's go to start off jig color.what is the color or color combo yall reach for first.I know the fish determine what to use but everyone has one they reach for first or one that has done the best through the years.just wondering how similar different areas are to others.

I longline and fish stained water whenever I can find it. My best year round color would be a blue/black body with chart tail in a Southern Pro hotgrub on a 1/16th jighead.

Something with chartreuse in it.
Used to be 98% of the time was Rocky Top black & chartreuse
Now migrating to LFT in a variety of Chartreuse colors - I'm likin' that Bluegrass!
There was only 2 left at BPS, so somebody else is too. ;)

Each lake is a different color or combination of colors. After you fish them awhile you get to know which jig and color works best on each. EB generally something with Chartruese in it tho.

Sunny - orange/chart or orange/white

Cloudy - black/chart

Usually give these a try before digging through everything else.

at the PFAs where I do most of my fishing, the color that has done best for me is white/chartreuse curly tail grub usually on an orange 1/16th jighead. had some decent luck with black/chartreuse too.

Usually start off with Green/Chartreuse. If that's not working, I'll change to Blue/Chartreuse or Junebug/Chartreuse.

I used to fish Elec Blue/char hollow tubes (BPS Sparkle Squirts), almost exclusively, and did very well with them for many years. I just got tired of having to put on fresh tubes or glue them to the jighead Rofl .... so I went to solid body tubes.

... cp

I spend a lot of time directly over the fish vertical jigging this past year, and the black and chartreuse just doesn't put em in the boat like the variations of natural colors. Black, blue or green over white, gray or pearl has worked very well for me this year. Bluegrass has also been a contender, and a hand tied brown head, off white body, and a tan hackle tail has been good too. The bright chart and fl.yellow tailed colors have been a good change up when shooting docks, but slow down after the aggressive fish are done.

I always start out with at least one rod with a chart. jig. The other two rods (now that we're allowed 3 in NY) get colors dictated by water color/clarity.
