If they work and you have the confidence in them, go for it.

From my limited experience I've concluded that the color/material/etc of the jig isn't nearly as important as depth, speed and placement. I've passed over school of crappie and gotten hits on dark plastic, bright hair and silver spoon...all on the same pass (thank you, sickle hooks, for keeping them hooked while I landed each of them).

I give them a choice of hair, curly tales or ripple and some are minnow tipped. Then go with what is working.

The triple tails have movement just like the curly tails. I use those when I want grubs in different colors than what Southern Pro or Big Bites sells. Some of the tyers I know use their tied jigs tipped with minnows and catch fish while longlining. I also use some tied jigs when pulling doubles and have caught fish off them. It really just depends on what the fish wants on any particular day.
