    Default trolling motor making noise

I have a Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motor and noticed it has started making more noise than it did when I first got it. On every turn you hear a definite sound but I can't tell what's causing it. I checked for line damage but didn't find any when I took the prop off.

As you can imagine, it's a killer when your trying to tightline for crappie over a brushpile. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Might have a bearing going out? I would get it to a repair shop asap before it locks up and really costs some money to get it fixed.
Being a Fortex it might still be under warranty?
Good luck I hope you get it resolved quick and get back on the fish.

I have had the same problem with my maxxum. I would not take to a shop unless you have warranty or just have the money. They are very simple to work on and just about anyone could work on them. Call this guy he is top notch in my book and will go out of his way to help you over the phone jonestrollingmotor.com

Guys, I really appreciate your help on this one. I did call Jones Trolling Motor Services (jonestrollingmotor.com) and spoke with the owner John Jones. Great guy to talk with an very, very helpful. He gave me a suggestion or two and if that doesn't work I may wind up sending it to him.
