    Question Okuma spinning reels.

How good are the Okuma spinning reels, They have several different models in the weight reels that we use for Crappie fishing, are the lower end Okuma's any good. Which brand of reel is the worst and the best for line twist.

Can't say much about their reels but I did own one of their rods once, I caught ONE fish on it.

I will not bad mouth a company's product, but will recommend shimano as a much better reel.

In the budget category spinning reels you might want to check out Eagle Claw Gunnison series. I've got the size 10, 20 and 30 reels. They're hard to beat for only $35 which includes a spare spool. Smooth operating with a nice linear drag.

I suspect that line twist is more effected by the quality of the line and the fishing technique you're using, than it is by the reel.

I bought a couple a month ago. One of them the gears have already striped on it. The other has an issue with its drag. My first experience with them, so far not impressed. But maybe its just a bad batch.

I have owned plenty of Okuma's from the low end to the mid level reels. They are smooth reels, that function just as they should. They will not last but a season or two from what I've been through. I have broke more than 1 on the body of the reel where the feet of the reel attach to the rod. I would also recommend a Shimano, some of the lower end shimanos are really dependable reels.
