Black and Chart, Watermelon, I recently field tested a Black / Goldfish for Lake fork and it worked awesome in our currently muddied up waters here in Indiana.
Sour Grape is also a great color in muddy water.
The next time you fish muddy water take a dark color jig and a light colored jig and lower them into the water slowly and see which one you can see the best.
I have fished in recently muddied water and found the Electric Chicken to work the best but the fish were only 1' down in 15' of water. So sometimes the mud can be only on the surface of the water and down a foot or so it could very well be fairly clear.
A lot of things to consider when choosing a color. Water Color and sun versus cloud cover. Clear water and sunny out Bright colors. Clear water and cloudy go with mid range colors. ( Tans, Browns and gray's.) Stained water and sunny once again Bright colors. Stained water and cloudy Dark colors. ( Black with any combo works great.)
I would highly recommend using a scent as well. Nibbles, Wax worms or Juiced up Baits.
