Ever been fishing getting bittes but can't hook em or hookem and the come right off? I'm sure this has happened to the best of us, so whatt do you do to fix this frustrating mishap.

I make sure I open my hook b4 I get started.

Are you using any kind of scent? Juiced up baits panfish scent works GREAT in situations like this. The fish inhale and hold on longer allowing for a good hook set.
The scent comes in a spray or gel so it really stays on for a long time.

Also hook size compared to the size of the bait. You need to make sure you have enough hook exposed so it stays in the fish better.
    Hope this helps?

Next size bigger hooks usually work for me when this happens. I have also found them sluggish and had to set the hook with a less pronounced lift of the rod or they were gone. Once I got a little less enthusiastic I was boating fish. Frustrating, I know. I have started using a blade bait and it has a #10 treble hook that has let 3 good fish go free in the last 2 weeks. Net in hand and they come unbuttoned.....AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!

    Good advice!!

I always downsize when getting short strikes. Minnows are always a good option as well.

I call those perch bites and move on. I also think crappie will hit a split shot, I have hooked many fish in the bottom lip fishing with a split shot. I know it sounds crazy but guys catch then on those silly "crappie nibbles" so why would they not hit a split shot. So..... I now fish another jig when I need weight. I catch a few on the top jig more often than I thought I would. My top jig is stuff I think would never catch a fish lol sometimes I'm wrong.
