    Default Trolling Motor ?

I am considering a small 2 person canoe for my kiddo and me to be able to putz around a local lake and do some fishing out of. If I add a trolling motor to it, do I have to then register it? I assume you don't need registration without a motor, but does a T/M require it.. I'm in Missouri

Law changed in KY several years ago. Now anything with an electric motor must be registered but it's based on value of the rig so not expensive.

I live in Mo also and any boat that has a motor must be registered and If you were born after Jan 1 1984 you will have to have a boaters safety card to operate it. all the same rules will apply as if it were a 40 footer, such as a pfd for everybody a throwable pfd and a fire extinguisher
